Tomatoes

ZZ2 produces tomatoes in Mooketsi, Polokwane, Waterpoort, Musina, Pontdrift, Vredendal, and Riebeek-Wes. The tomatoes are produced mainly for the local market with limited exports to Reunion, Seychelles, Dubai and Oman. Production takes place 12 months of the year.

Avocados

ZZ2 has extensive avocado orchards in the Mooketsi valley as well as Politsi and Houtbosdorp. The avocados are farmed according to Natuurboerdery principles, meaning that biological plant nutrient and plant protection technologies are favoured.

Onions

Onions are produced in Mooketsi, Polokwane, Pontdrift, Riebeek Wes and Ceres. ZZ2 is the only producer of onions in the country that can claim to have year-round production. In the winter months the Limpopo Lite onion is produced in the North and in the summer the Cape Brown onion is produced in the South. The Limpopo Lite is light in colour, slightly pungent and with a tangy taste. The Cape Brown onion is a beautiful dark brown colour that is fantastic for cooking or can be used raw in salads.

Apples, Pears & Stone Fruit

Apples, Pears & Stone Fruit ZZ2’s farms in Ceres and Riebeek Wes in the Western Cape and Langkloof in the Eastern Cape produce 32 different varieties of apples, pears and stone fruit for the local and export market. The fruit are in season for 25 weeks of the year.

Cattle

Grootboom Pinzgauers
ZZ2 has been involved in breeding Pinzgauer cattle for close on 50 years. Pinzgauers originated in Austria and the first cattle were imported to Namibia in 1902.  The Grootboom stud is the largest privately owned Pinzgauer stud in the world, with the best genetics available locally. The stud excelled at the National Championships at the Pretoria Show in 2008.
